Before the EAM Sample Solution can deploy ESX agents on ESXi hosts, you must configure the virtual infrastructure so that vSphere can assign networks and datastores to the ESX agent virtual machines.

You must set the ESX Agent Manager properties on a vCenter Server system to configure the network and datastore on which to deploy ESX agent virtual machines on this vCenter Server instance.

1

Click the Hosts and Clusters icon, or choose vCenter> vCenter Home > Hosts and Clusters in the left navigation menu. Double-click the name of the ESXi server, click Hosts in the left navigation menu, and then choose the name of the Host where you want to deploy ESX agent virtual machines.

2

Click Manage to display configuration information for the host.

3

Click Agent VM Settings and click Edit in the top right corner.

4

Select a datastore and network for ESX agent deployment from the drop-down menus.

You configured the network and datastore for the ESXi host where you want to deploy ESX agent virtual machines. You configured the IP address management so that vCenter Server can allocate IP addresses to ESX agent virtual machines.
