To use the Workbench Log Browser GUI, you must first create a project with one or more .logx files in it. A .logx file describes what kind of log files to display and where to find them. Use the Workbench Log Browser Wizard to create the project and populate it with one or more .logx files.
2 Select New > Log Analysis.
3 From the Source host drop-down menu, select the Local host or the name of the remote system where the logs you want to analyze reside.If you do not see the host machine you want in the drop-down menu, add it to the list by clicking Add. The New Connection wizard displays, where you can add a host machine. When finished, select the newly added host from the drop-down menu.
4 Select a Log Format from the drop-down menu.
5 In the Project Container field, click Browse to select a file container name, or type the name for a new file container.

7 (Optional) If you do not want to take the default values displayed, or there are no default values displayed in the Parent Directory and File pattern(s) fields, then Click Browse to choose the Parent Directory for the log search.Workbench Log Browser will search the directory shown in the Parent Directory field for all files matching the File pattern(s) regular expression.If the Show All Files check box is not dimmed on this page, you can select the check box to view all log files in the directory tree instead of only the ones matching the pattern.
8 Click Next to view the Summary page where you can see the log formats and .logx file names that will be created.
9 (Optional) Deselect the Create check box next to a .logx file to remove it from the list of files the wizard will create.The .logx files are all enabled by default.
10 (Optional) Deselect the Open check box for one or more .logx files if you do not want them to open automatically when the wizard finishes.The Open check boxes are selected by default. If you deselected any of the files in the wizard, you can open them later. You can open a .logx file at any time by double-clicking it in the Project Explorer.
11 (Optional) Click Back to go back to the Log Host and Format Selection page and add more .logx files to the project.By continuing to click Next, you can cycle through the following pages repeatedly: Log Host and Format Selection, Log File Path Selection, and the .logx File Creation Summary.Each time you cycle through, you can create a new .logx file that is added to your Workbench Log Browser project. The summary page displays all of the .logx files that will be created for this project.
12 Click Finish to create the project and return to the Project Explorer.You see the project in the Project Explorer. Expanding the project displays all of the .logx files associated with the project.
13 (Optional) Double-click the .logx file in the project to open the logs in a Workbench Log Browser view.This step is not necessary if you selected the Open check box. You see the logs automatically displayed in a Log Browser view in the Workbench GUI.
