Installing Packages Off-line

To accommodate those who do not have Internet access for installation of the software packages, VMware Workbench installation packages can be downloaded as individual ZIP files. You can download the packages from the same site where the base VMware Workbench package resides.

Install software packages off-line

1	On a machine connected to the Internet, you can use the Dashboard Download link on either the full Workbench virtual machine or the Workbench Toolsuite (RCP) version to download packages to portable media.

2	Insert the media into the system on which you will install the packages.

3	Unzip the packages and extract them to a directory accessible by your VMware Workbench virtual machine.

4	In VMware Workbench, select Help > Install New Software.

5	Click Add to open the Add Repository dialog box.

6	Type a name for the package in the Name text box.

7	Click Local to open the file dialog box.

8	Navigate to the directory where you stored the installation packages and click OK.

9	The available installation packages display in the Name box of the Install dialog box.

10	Select the check box next to the package name, and click Next.

The system calculates the requirements and dependencies for the packages you have selected.

You can expand VMware Workbench <package name> in the Name field to see the list of components included in the download. While you can choose to exclude some or all of the components by deselecting them, this step is not necessary because the installation software prevents you from installing duplicate or unnecessary components.

11	Review the install Install Details and click Next.

12	Review the license notice and select I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Finish. The installation proceeds. This step can take several minutes to complete. You cannot install the software without agreeing to the license terms.

13	When the installation is complete, a dialog box advises you to restart Eclipse for the changes to take effect and asks you if you want to restart now.

If you have other packages to install, click Not Now.

If you want to apply the changes without restarting Eclipse, click Apply Changes Now. This is only applicable for some add-ons. If it does not apply to your add-on, then it functions the same as clicking Not Now.

If you are finished installing software packages, click Restart Now to restart Eclipse.
